Light...

We are all born into a world of transit. What do I mean by that? I had this inspiration from an email Judy sent to me. Thx Judy! The world of transit defines the path humans take and the power given to humans to take that path is called 'choice' or 'freewill'. This is a gift given to us by God from the beginning of time.

The word 'transit' defines a choice to decide which path you want to take. It also explains the duration of time involved in a transit as being short and temporary. Anyone who have taken a transit flight somewhere would have known that you will only have to wait for a while in order to get on to the next flight. This goes to show that our life here on Earth is short and temporary. We are all meant to live on Earth for a short while before embarking to somewhere else, the same as a transited flight.

Transition is the act of transit. We transit from light to darkness and darkness to light everyday in our days and nights. Have you ever wondered why our eyes are much easily adjusted from light to darkness rather than from darkness to light. Do you feel irritated by the morning light shining onto your face in the morning or do you feel irritated from transiting from evening to nighttime? Obviously the former makes more sense, does it? I wonder why is it so? Probably because of our fallen nature that we are more sensitive to light than darkness. Darkness to humans are more easily acceptable, non-intrusive, comfortable and easily adaptable.

We are born into a world of both light and darkness. There is daytime and nighttime, sunshine and storms. Imagine a world with just light or a world with just darkness. Earth serves as a medium of transit to let humans experience both light and darkness. I would imagine complete light as in heaven where there is no darkness, where the presence of light has overtaken darkness. Have you ever wondered why only light can penetrate through darkness and not vice-versa?

'the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.' (Matt 4:16)

Most men search for light in their lives but are too comfortable with their present darkness. Remember that darkness exist initially in humans according to the bible quote above and only when people see light will they be able receive light.

'The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.' (Ps 19:8)

Therefore, our time here on earth is to transit into light or darkness (In my point of view, light being heaven and darkness being hell). As when we were still in our mothers' womb, there is not a single ray of light and when we are born, suddenly all the light in the world shine upon us but the gift of light is only temporary and must be made certain with a choice. The choice of going back to the darkness from where we came from or to continue to seek a light that is so bright to the extend of the absence of darkness?

'This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.' (John 3:19-21)

Notice the word 'Everyone'.  Why didn't God use the word 'Anyone' instead? This strikes me as a fact that all men are evil and does evil whether we are aware of it or not. Only those people who chooses to live by the truth in 'whoever' can come into the light.

Thus my conclusion for this segment is a simple analogy. Notice that in order to come into the  light, we must first live by the truth. Thus, the analogy of us being born into this world to choose Jesus and seek God who is the Way, the Truth and the Life in order for us to advance into the light.

Our nature: darkness
Our choice: darkness or light?
Our desire: light (hopefully, by God's grace!)
Our choice now: LIGHT!

P.S I know my points are a bit messy and hard to understand but I hope you can find some 'light' in it. And don't get comfortable with darkness! :P

I leave you with this verse:

'You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.' (2Sam 22:29)

God Bless!

James
